Summer Solstice

The Solstice has long been considered a magical time. On the Solstice, the veil between worlds is said to be thin, and it becomes easier to connect with nature spirits and the healing energies of the planet. It is also a time where we can feel our intrinsic connection to Mother Earth and all that inhabit it.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the June solstice (summer solstice) occurs when the Sun travels along its northernmost path in the sky. This marks the astronomical start of summer in the northern half of the globe. (In the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the opposite: the June solstice marks the astronomical start of winter, when the Sun is at its lowest point in the sky.)

The word “solstice” comes from Latin solstitium—from sol (Sun) and stitium (still or stopped). Due to Earth’s tilted axis, the Sun doesn’t rise and set at the same locations on the horizon each morning and evening; its rise and set positions move northward or southward in the sky as Earth travels around the Sun through the year. Also, the Sun’s track in the sky becomes higher or lower throughout the year. The June solstice is significant because the Sun reaches its northernmost point in the sky at this time, at which point the Sun’s path does not change for a brief period of time.

WHEN

In 2022, the June solstice occurs on June 21st, marking the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.

The Harmony of Alignment.

According to research led by geobiologist, Rory Duff, the day before the Solstice is also a time where the energetic grid of the planet or the ley lines of the Earth all align at the exact same frequency, creating waves of harmony, peace, and healing throughout the planet.

These harmonious frequencies linger for a few days, helping us to access higher dimensions and a higher consciousness.

An easy way to tap into this energy is to spend time in nature. Herbs, fire, air and water hold special power around this time, and many of the solstice traditions around the globe revolve around these elements. The bonfire in Scandinavia and pilgrimages to holy wells in Glastonbury.

The Summer Solstice is the most expansive Yang energy point of the year. It is a powerful pause and a good time to align with the core of the Universe, the perfect alignment to co-create with the abundance of life.

At a time where Mother Nature is blooming in full bounty, this is the time to set your intentions and make THAT wish. The wish for you. The wish for the World. The wish for whatever sits strongly in your heart, the wish for what longs to be born into life. The universe is listening and incredibly receptive at this time.

Celebrating and giving thanks

To celebrate the Summer Solstice is to celebrate two things. On one side, we are giving thanks to everything that has come our way with the power of the returning sun, and on the other side celebrating a turning point, as the light changes its course once again.

Soak in this Pause of Power and make THAT wish. The wish for You. The wish for the World

Make a Wish

There is something innocent and magical about making a wish that recalls the energy of childhood. Wishes are focused expressions of our heart’s desire as well as our intention to create something new in our lives. This opening is a beautiful gesture in and of itself, regardless of the outcome. We place ourselves in a magical state of mind full receptivity, which is as wonderful as the fulfillment of our wish itself.

Close your eyes, open your mind, and make a wish.

Braid a Flower Wreath

Go for a walk in the land or in the woods and collect branches and flowers for a Summer wreath. Wear it with a summer dress on the night of the Summer Solstice or leave it either outside or inside to dry.

Let your Summer Wreath remind you of the Circle of Life and the endless bounty of Mother Nature. Let the Midsummer Night crown you like a special child of hers and soothe you with the life giving power of Nature.
